Abstract:

The speaker discusses some implications of the measured value of the Higgs mass observed at CERN for the supersymmetric Standard Model. He points out that the measured value may be a hint for a very large scale of SUSY breaking, above 1010 GeV. He also discusses how such a large value of the SUSY breaking scale is common in large classes of string compactifications consistent with an underlying SU5) unification symmetry. A delicate fine-tuning of the Higgs mass parameters is required which could be motivated in the context of a large landscape of string vacua.

The seminar is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
