Seminar

Miscellaneous Aspects of Supersymmetry in Statistical Physics (II)

Prof Edouard Brézin

(Visiting Professor of HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study)

17 June 2013 (Monday)
3:00 - 4:30 pm
Room 2404 (2/F via Lifts 17-18), HKUST

Abstract:

The speaker will review a few exercises on supersymmetric quantum mechanics and the application to the Fokker‐Planck equation. But most of the lectures will be devoted to dimensional reduction through SUSY: He will discuss the random field Ising model, where it fails, branched polymers and the Lee‐Yang edge singularity, a SUSY classical gas, where dimensional reduction does work, and if there is time a study of Landau levels with impurities, applications to random matrix theory and sigma models for disordered systems.

The seminar is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
