Overview

Tremendous progress has been made in recent years on multiscale modeling and simulation of defects in materials science, such as correlations among defect structure, energetics and dynamics, and influences of defects on the properties of the materials.

This workshop aims to promote interdisciplinary research collaborations among mathematicians and materials scientists. Experts and research groups who have been very active in this field will share their thoughts and experiences on topics include problems of defects such as grain boundaries, materials surfaces, dislocations, fluid-solid and biological interfaces, and techniques of mathematical analysis and numerical simulations.
