香港科技大學賽馬會高等研究院自2013年秋天開展了中國文學創作研究專題,由著名的文學理論家及評論家劉再復教授主持,計劃每年邀請兩至三位蜚聲國際的中國當代作家來駐校訪問,其中包括諾貝爾文學獎得主高行健先生和莫言先生。項目為促進香港科技大學的人文科學教育,讓師生有機會跟世界級的一流文學大師當面對話與接觸,從而體會中國現當代文學的魅力,並開發自我創作的潛力,體會多彩和詩意的文學想象世界。

2014年秋天香港科技大學高等研究院與香港科技大學人文社會科學學院和人文學部將聯合舉辦以下活動:

Since fall 2013, HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study has launched the Chinese Creative Writing Program. Professor Liu Zaifu, the world-renowned literary critic and writer, has joined IAS as a Senior Visiting Fellow and director of this program. Each year IAS will invite 2-3 leading contemporary Chinese writers such as Gao Xingjian, Mo Yan, Yan Lianke, Yu Hua, Su Tong, Wang Anyi, Jia Pingwa, and others to join the Chinese Creative Writing Program, ushering HKUST students into the colorful world of contemporary Chinese literature. The program will explore the major issues and prospects of creative Chinese writing in a global age and seek to build HKUST as a major platform of such discourses in the higher education sector locally, nationally and internationally. It will also greatly enrich the academic and intellectual community of IAS by creating more exchange and interaction among top scientists in the world and top creative writers from China and beyond.

During the Fall semester of 2014, Prof Liu Zaifu, joined by eminent contemporary Chinese writers Mr Gao Xingjian, Ms Chi Zijian, Mr Yan Lianke & Dr Xue Yiwei, will organize the following events:
 

1) Lecture by Xue Yiwei: The Philosophical Depth of Literary Writing

2) An International Workshop on Gao Xingjian’s Literary Works

3) A Screening of Rock Musical: Of Mountains and Seas

4) Winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature,
Mr Gao Xingjian’s Dialogue with Prof Liu Zaifu:
“What Kind of Literature Do We Want?”

5) Lecture by Chi Zijian: Literature is a Melancholy Journey 14 November 2014
6) Lecture by Yan Lianke: China and Literature in Spiritual Realism 26 November 2014
7) A literary course HUMA3000 taught by Professor Liu Zaifu and Ms Chi Zijian.
